DRAFT — PENDING LEGAL REVIEW
These Content Guidelines are a working draft. They have not been reviewed by counsel and are not yet binding. We're publishing the draft for transparency and feedback during the onboarding wave. The final guidelines will replace this page when published.
Content Guidelines
These guidelines apply to everything you put on Trucked Up — your truck profile, photos, videos, descriptions, menu items, broadcasts, and any text you send through the platform.
The short version: be honest, be respectful, and only post what you have the rights to post. The rest is nuance.
What we encourage
- Real photos of your real food and your real truck. Customers can tell when something's stock photography.
- Plain, honest descriptions. Tell people what you actually serve, not what marketing language says you serve.
- Consistency between your listing and reality. If your menu says "smoked brisket", you serve smoked brisket. If your stop says "11am-2pm", you're there 11am-2pm.
- Bilingual content where it serves your customers. West Palm Beach is bilingual; many of our customers prefer reading in Spanish. Auto-translation handles the heavy lifting; tweak when it's awkward.
What's not allowed
1. Illegal content
- Items that are illegal to sell in Florida or under US federal law (this is rare for food trucks but worth saying — no unlicensed alcohol, no tobacco/THC products, etc.).
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property (e.g., you can't use a competing brand's logo, you can't post photos you got from Google Images).
2. Misrepresentation
- Using another truck's name or branding to mislead customers.
- Posting photos that aren't of your food or your truck.
- Claiming awards, certifications, or media coverage you don't actually have.
- Listing menu items at a price you don't charge.
3. Harassing, hateful, or threatening content
- Targeting individuals, customers, employees, or other trucks with harassment or insults.
- Content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Threats of violence, real or implied.
4. Spam and abuse
- Sending broadcasts that aren't tied to a real, time-sensitive update (the 1-per-truck-per-24-hours rate limit prevents the worst of this; the rest is on you).
- Validating leads with no intent to follow up.
- Using customer contact info from validated leads for any purpose other than the inquiry.
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits, suspensions, or other platform rules.
5. Adult, explicit, or unsafe content
- Sexually explicit imagery or text, anywhere on the platform.
- Photos that depict food in unsanitary conditions, or that would be reasonably considered gross or upsetting (this isn't about your aesthetics — it's about basic food-platform standards).
- Anything that would put customers' health at risk if mistaken for accurate info (e.g., listing an item as gluten-free when it isn't).
Reviews (customer-facing)
Customer reviews are written by customers, not by you. A few things to know:
- You can reply to any review on your truck. Reply text is public.
- You cannot edit or delete reviews.
- You can report abusive reviews to us via info@truckedup.food. We'll evaluate against these guidelines and remove if appropriate.
- You can't ask customers to delete reviews in exchange for refunds, free food, or anything else. This violates these guidelines and most major review-platform norms.
What counts as "abusive" and removable:
- Reviews that contain personal threats or harassment.
- Reviews that reveal the customer's or anyone else's personal information beyond what's reasonable in context.
- Reviews that are clearly not about your truck (someone reviewed the wrong truck, or it's spam).
- Reviews that contain illegal content.
What does NOT count as abusive (we won't remove these):
- A negative but honest review of your food or service.
- A 1-star review where the customer is just disappointed.
- A review that critiques you personally as long as it stays in bounds (e.g., "the owner was rude" is a real review of your service, even if you disagree).
Photos and video
In addition to the general rules above:
- Photos and video must be your own (or properly licensed). Do not upload images from Google, social media, or other trucks' pages.
- Photos must reasonably represent your current food and truck. Replacing a 5-year-old menu photo with a current one is fine and encouraged. Posting a photo of someone else's food and claiming it's yours is not.
- Avoid uploading photos that contain identifiable customers without their permission — your truck and your food are the subjects, not the people standing nearby.
Broadcasts
Broadcasts are pushed to customers' phones. Standards are accordingly higher.
- Broadcasts must be tied to a specific, time-sensitive update (today's special, surprise stop, immediate change of plans). They are not for general marketing or "we exist" pings.
- Broadcasts must not contain external links, calls to action that take customers off Trucked Up, or any other content that abuses the channel.
- Broadcasts must comply with the rest of these guidelines (no harassment, no misrepresentation, no spam, etc.).
See Sending a broadcast and Why broadcasts are rate-limited for the operational details.
Reporting violations
If you see content on Trucked Up that violates these guidelines — on another truck's page, in a review, in a broadcast you received — email us with:
- A link or screenshot of the content.
- Which guideline you think it violates.
- Any context you have (e.g., "this same truck has done this multiple times").
We review every report; we don't promise a particular outcome on every one.
How violations are handled
For content from owners (you and your peers), we generally take a graduated approach:
- First-time, low-severity violations (e.g., a slightly misleading description): we email you with a heads-up and give you a chance to fix it.
- Repeat or moderate violations (e.g., recurring misuse of broadcasts, persistent inaccurate listings): we may temporarily restrict features (broadcasts, lead validation) while we work it out with you.
- Severe violations (e.g., harassment, illegal content, intent to defraud): we may suspend or terminate your account immediately, and may notify the customer or appropriate authorities.
We try to be fair and transparent. If you think we got a call wrong, reply to the support email — we'll take a second look with fresh eyes.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these Content Guidelines as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email and in-app at least 14 days before they take effect.
