I'm not receiving push notifications
Notifications are the difference between catching every order and losing one because you didn't see it. If yours have stopped arriving, walk through the checks below in order — most issues are fixed in the first three steps.
For the first-time setup of push notifications, see Setting up push notifications on iOS.
Quick checklist (try these first)
- Is your phone on a network? Push notifications need internet. Check Wi-Fi or cellular. Airplane mode silently kills push.
- Is the Trucked Up app signed in? Open the app — if you see the sign-in screen, you've been logged out (rare, but it happens after long inactivity). Sign back in. Push registration refreshes on sign-in.
- Are notifications enabled in iOS Settings? Open Settings → Trucked Up → Notifications. Allow Notifications must be on, and Sounds, Banners, and Badges should all be on too.
If these three are good and pushes are still missing, keep going below.
iOS-specific issues
Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is on
iOS's Focus modes (including Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work, etc.) can suppress notifications even when notifications are otherwise enabled.
- Open Settings → Focus and check whether any Focus is currently active.
- For each Focus that might run during your shifts, scroll to Apps (under "Allowed Notifications") and add Trucked Up as an allowed app.
- Or: turn Focus off entirely while you're working.
The phone was on silent
If you have an iPhone with the physical ringer switch (most models with a switch on the side), check it. If you have a newer iPhone with the Action Button, check what it's set to. Silent mode lets banners arrive but skips the sound — you might be getting the notification visually without hearing it.
iOS 17+ Notification Summary is batching pushes
If you've set up Scheduled Summary (Settings → Notifications → Scheduled Summary), Trucked Up notifications might be batched up and delivered in the morning/evening instead of in real time. Either:
- Turn Scheduled Summary off entirely, or
- Remove Trucked Up from the list of summarized apps so its notifications stay real-time.
The app was force-quit
If you swipe up to close the app from the multitasking view, iOS still delivers pushes — but some users report flakiness on older devices. Don't force-quit the Trucked Up app. Just leave it in the background; iOS handles the rest.
The token didn't refresh
Rare, but: occasionally a device's push token gets stale (e.g., after a major iOS update or a sign-out/sign-in). The fix is to:
- Sign out of the Trucked Up app.
- Force-quit the app once.
- Sign back in — this re-registers your device with our backend and you'll receive a fresh token.
Test by having someone place a sample order on your truck. If pushes work after this, you were a stale-token victim.
Web browser issues
Browser notifications work differently from iOS push and have a separate set of failure modes.
The browser tab is closed
Web notifications only fire while the tab is open. If you closed the order queue tab, no notifications fire. Open it again.
The browser blocks notifications
In most browsers, a small icon in the address bar shows the notification permission state. If it's blocked:
- Chrome: click the lock icon → site settings → set Notifications to Allow.
- Safari: Safari menu → Settings → Websites → Notifications → set
truckedup.foodto Allow. - Firefox: click the lock icon → site permissions → reset Notifications and re-allow on next prompt.
macOS Focus mode is on
Same as iOS — macOS has Focus modes that can suppress browser notifications. Check System Settings → Focus.
Browser is in incognito/private mode
Some browsers don't preserve notification permissions in private/incognito windows. Use a regular browser window.
When push works but you missed an order anyway
Push isn't perfect. A safety habit:
- Keep the order queue open in a tab on your laptop or tablet during shifts. Even with push working, the visible queue is the canonical source.
- Check the queue periodically during quiet stretches — every few minutes — even if you got no pings.
- Have a backup phone signed into the Trucked Up app, charged and reachable.
The platform is reliable enough that you won't usually need belt-and-suspenders, but the cost of a missed order is high enough that it's worth a habit.
When you've tried everything and pushes are still missing
If all of the above looks right and you still can't get pushes:
- Confirm with a smoke test. Have someone place a small test order on your truck. Watch your phone and the web queue. If the order shows up in the queue but no push fires on your phone, that's a push-specific issue.
- Email us at info@truckedup.food with:
- The phone model and iOS version.
- The Trucked Up app version (Settings → Trucked Up → version, or in the App Store).
- Whether the test order showed in the queue.
- Whether you've recently changed phones, signed out, or updated iOS.
We can re-register your device endpoint manually on our side, which fixes most stale-token cases that survive the sign-out/sign-in dance.
Common questions
I get pushes for new orders but not for delivery state changes (or vice versa). That's unusual — all our owner pushes use the same channel. Check that Sounds and Banners are both on under iOS Settings → Trucked Up → Notifications. If one type appears as silent banners only, the channel-level toggles aren't fully on.
I get pushes on one device but not another. Each device registers separately. Open the app on the silent device, sign out and back in. That re-registers it.
My new-order push has the wrong sound (or no sound). Make sure Sounds is on under Settings → Trucked Up → Notifications, and that the silent switch / silent mode is off. The custom new-order sound (new_order.caf) only plays if all of those are good.
A push notification appears but tapping it doesn't open the right screen. That can happen if the app was completely closed when the push arrived. Tap the push, give the app a second to launch and route. If you tap quickly while the app is launching, iOS sometimes drops the deep link. Reopen via the home screen and the order will be in your queue.
