Recurring stops vs one-off stops
Trucked Up's schedule supports two kinds of stops:
- One-off — a single date and time. (e.g., "Sept 12, 11am-2pm at City Hall")
- Recurring — repeats every week on the days you pick. (e.g., "Every Tue and Thu, 11am-2pm at City Hall")
This article covers when to use each, how to set up a recurring stop, and the gotchas to know.
When to use one-off stops
Use a one-off stop when:
- It's a one-time event (festival, pop-up, private booking).
- You don't know yet whether you'll be back.
- It's an experimental new spot you're trying for the first time.
Most stops in your first few weeks on Trucked Up will be one-offs while you figure out which spots work.
When to use recurring stops
Use a recurring stop when:
- You're at the same place, same time, the same day(s) every week.
- The spot is a reliable part of your routine — customers can plan around it.
Recurring stops are great for regulars to learn your rhythm. "Every Friday at lunch by the courthouse" is something a customer remembers.
Setting up a recurring stop
Recurring stops use the same form as one-off stops, with one extra toggle.
On the web
Go to truckedup.food/owner/schedule → + Add Stop.
Fill in Location, Date (this is the first occurrence), Start time, and End time as usual.
Turn on This repeats weekly.
Pick the days of the week the stop happens (e.g., Mon, Wed, Fri).
Click Save.
On iOS
My Truck → Schedule → +.
Same fields, same flow.
Toggle Repeats weekly and tap the day-of-week chips for the days you want.
Tap Save.
What "weekly" means here
- Stops repeat every week on the days you picked, indefinitely. There's no end date and no "every other week" option today — it's weekly, forever, until you turn it off.
- The original Date you set is treated as the start week. Customers won't see the recurring stop on weeks before that date.
- The Start time and End time are the same for every occurrence.
- The days of the week and the location are also the same for every occurrence.
If your needs are more complex than that — biweekly, monthly, "first Saturday of every month" — recurring isn't a fit yet. Use one-off stops, or email us and tell us what you need; this is the most-requested area for richer options.
How recurring stops appear to customers
On your public truck page and on the map, a recurring stop shows:
- The location name (e.g., "WPB City Hall")
- The label "Weekly" plus the days (e.g., "Weekly Mon · Wed · Fri")
- The start–end time (e.g., "11am – 2pm")
Customers see one entry per recurring stop, not one per occurrence — so your schedule list stays clean even if you have stops that have been recurring for months.
Editing a recurring stop
When you edit a recurring stop, the change applies to every future occurrence. There's no "edit just this Tuesday" — recurring entries are a single record, not a series.
If you need to make a one-time change to a recurring stop (skip a week, run an extra hour just this once, change location for a single day), here's the workaround:
- Edit the recurring stop to drop the affected day for that week. For example, if your stop recurs Tue/Thu and you want to skip this Thursday: turn off "Thu" temporarily.
- Add a one-off stop with whatever the change is — or just leave it skipped.
- After the affected week, edit the recurring stop again and turn the day back on.
Per-occurrence editing is on the roadmap.
Removing a recurring stop
Deleting a recurring stop removes it entirely — every future occurrence disappears immediately. Past occurrences (which were "today" or earlier) just drop off naturally; we don't keep historic schedule records visible to customers.
Common questions
My recurring stop has a Date field but it repeats — what's the Date for? That's the first occurrence — the week the recurring stop starts being visible to customers. Customers won't see the stop in weeks before that date.
Can I have a stop that recurs every other week? Not today. Use weekly + skip the off-weeks manually if needed, or use one-off stops.
Does the recurring stop "end" eventually? No. It runs forever until you delete it or turn off all the days. If you stop going to a place permanently, delete the recurring stop.
I changed my recurring stop's location — did the old occurrences move too? Customers don't see "old" occurrences of recurring stops (we only show upcoming). So changing the location moves all future occurrences to the new spot, which is usually what you want.
One of the days of my recurring stop falls on a holiday — does anything happen? No. The recurring stop will still show up that week. If you're closing for a holiday, drop that day from the recurrence for the week (workaround above) or make a one-off broadcast push to let customers know.
